The Character Fort Collins Board of Directors is proud to announce the hiring of Rebecca Dixon as Executive Director and Maryellen Paton as Executive Assistant. Officially, both start working on June 1, 2008.
"The Board is very excited to have hired individuals who are well suited to helping us meet our objectives of building community awareness and engagement, and of ensuring long-term sustainability,” said Wendy Williams, Assistant City Manager of the City of Fort Collins, and the President of the Character Fort Collins Board of Directors.
Dixon most recently worked as National Field Service Manager for the Timberland Company. “I am honored to join a wonderful organization that fosters an essential community dialogue. I believe that one person and one voice can make a difference, and I'm excited to share the message of Character Fort Collins. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my voice and passion to the development of personal and organizational character throughout the community,” she said.
Paton recently moved back to Fort Collins from Texas where she was the Office Manager for an 8-lane Olympic sized competition swimming facility. She will assist the Executive Director and help support Character Fort Collins programs and departments like CHAMP (Character in Athletics-Make it a Priority), Business and Individual Memberships, and the Training Department.
Founder Bob Powell vacated his position as Executive Director of the organization on December 31, 2007. He still serves the organization in several capacities including head trainer and member of the Poudre School District Character Education Council. He has a lifetime appointment to the Board of Directors.
Mary Zenzen has been serving in an interim capacity while the Board of Directors identified new staff members.
