Families

We want to help families with their character development responsibilities.

Family life is where character is primarily developed. We believe that deliberate training for good character in the home is the most important activity to prepare the family and its members for success.

Critical elements of character development in the home include:

  • Recognizing the home as the primary location where character is built

  • Learning the application of specific character qualities to build strong family relationships

  • Understanding and teaching good character as the most important personal quality for lifelong success

  • Character based, rather than authoritarian based, correction

  • Reinforcing good character through praise

  • Using resources for character development

A primary resource for character development offered by Character Fort Collins is Achieving True Success: How to Build Character as a Family, published by the International Association of Character Citites. This $12 book provides a suggested step-by-step outline for character development in families using easy to understand concepts and activities to teach 49 specific character traits.

"Achieving True Success" and other resources for character building are available at cost from Character Fort Collins; contact us for information and orders.
